While exploring the building of his newspaper, PM, Knox unearthed a vintage copy of The Naked City, a book of photos by the legendary news photographer Weegee. Knox takes a lot of pride in knowing that (in his reality, at least) Weegee preceded him at PM. Most people, when the go home, get a reasonably warm welcome. Carlotta got home to discover that Fern was refusing to let her in the house. Which amongst anything else, was frustrating and rude.

She wraps her Ringmaster coat around her bump, makes a quick trip to the bathroom (baby's kicking her in the bladder again) and then searches for backup.

Carlotta is out back, shooting at the archery range. She's a little out of practice recently, but a good enough aim to try doing it with the arrows on fire.

Now just to stop the arrows from blowing out before they reach the target.

It's party time!

It's not Christmas for Carlotta. More like mid summer. But she comes in, and heads over to the tree.

Christmas has never been a holiday of Demeter's but it is one for many people she knows. That means that today she enters holding baskets and bags full of treats for those she cares for. All of them are dropped at the Bar and instead of a signature simply have a golden sheaf of wheat in the from section.

Since a little more than a week ago, the cat population of Milliways is up by one young black female. She's no longer a kitten, but by no means fully grown; and at the moment, she is exploring the bar: walking over the counter, hopping on tables, hiding under the benches in the booths ( Read more... )
